Dr. Laura

I predict Dr. Laura will sign a major deal with Fox News before the end of the year. What do you think?

Personally, I think Dr. Laura may pursue other interests such as FOX News in the future, but I doubt she will be receiving any offers by the end of this year. What she did was offensive and there are no excuses for her actions. I think now that her radio show is over, she will definitely be interested in other opportunities. I just feel like those opportunities will not come very quickly, and she will be waiting around for a while for any potential positions.

I think it is a distinct possibility that Dr. Laura Schlessinger will move to FOX News. She has already received support from various well-known republicans, such as Sarah Palin, so it would seem plausible that she would be offered a contract.

I think that if the money stops, anyone would sign a major deal with any organization in the industry. Not being a fan of Fox News, or of Dr. Laura, I couldn't tell you specifically what I think of the situation.

Once called the “the most important female talk show host in the history of talk radio,” Dr. Laura's rep has taken quite a hit, but it seems these types of radio characters always land on their feet somewhere (see Rush Limbaugh, Don Imus). Won't be surprised if she's inking somewhere soon.

As much as FOX News loves having controversial and newsworthy analysts on their network, I do not think they will pursue a deal with Dr. Laura anytime soon. I agree with Troy in that she will look for other opportunities now that her radio show is over, but I think she is in the same boat Don Imus was in a few years ago when he made controversial racial comments. I do not think any reputable network, including FOX News, will be eager to sign her. If they do, that gives me one more reason not to watch.

It may not be before the end of the year but I think she will sign on with FOX News eventually considering her republican support.

I am not certain Dr. Laura will make any major commitments before the end of the year. The 2009 academic controversy is far from over. Dr. Laura's future at Marshall is heavily dependent on the outcome of Perdue's suit. Whether or not she will pursue a career with Fox News or any other news outlet is yet to be determined.

I find what she said very offensive. However, she seems to fit in with a lot of the Fox News anchors. I wouldn't watch if she signed with them. Anyone who spreads hate as such shouldn't have ratings.

My mistake...we brought up the grade scandal around the same time Dr. Laura's name was mentioned in class and I got the two issues confused.
I don't think there is any excuse for Dr. Laura's language. It was very offensive and she needs to apologize. Words like the one she used are starting to creep back into public forum. She needs to be held accountable for what she said. As for Fox News, I still say it's too soon to tell, but I could see her taking her career elsewhere.

While I have no idea what is going on in that womans head, i do believe she would be a perfect fit for fox news. in my opinion i feel that she might go the correspondant route, and i could even see her directing her umm talents, to other stations as well. but while i do believe she will be contributing in some way shape or form to fox, i dont think she will be getting her own show or anything like that, it will be more along the lines of a special correspondant.

Well, throughout the last year or so, I had followed Dr. Laura Schlessinger on her radio talk show before it abruptly came to an end. I think Laura pushed her limits at times and was very unethical in her decisions which occasionally got her in trouble. However, Dr. Laura was, I believe, the most important female talk show host in the history of talk radio and I applaud her for that because I would consider that a major accomplishment. Laura stuck to her conservative values and was very direct on certain issues which I find astounding. In respect to the Fox News deal, I hope that she does not get the deal because of her behavior on-air. If a deal were to arise, she needs to re-evaluate herself and what she says in order for her to possibly gain a larger audience which Fox News desperately needs. In conclusion, Dr. Laura is a very talented individual who definitely knows her stuff and I believe she can and will go a long way only if she stops her cruel manner in which she presents information. I do not believe that Fox will sign her on due to her incident with the African American caller and her offensive actions but I know that other opportunities will come her way which she will grasp on to.

I found what Dr. Laura said very offensive but have mixed feelings on whether she will get a deal with FOX News. I definitely think she would fit the current FOX News anchor "stereotype" of being controversial. However, what she said was so outrageous and so offensive I'm not sure FOX News will want to have such a liability on their hands.

I think this move wouldn't be that surprising considering that Dr. Laura is 63 years old and Fox News is primarily watched by an older audience. She would be just simply matching the demographic.

Honestly, I would not be surprised if FOX offered Dr. Laura a job by the end of the year. Agreeing that what she did was offensive, it is that kind of controversy that is expected from FOX news. Offensive or not, more people will be watching her now than ever, waiting for another outburst. It's sad, but true.

Well, Dr. Laura might have some kind of talent in her field, but that doesn't erase the fact that she said something that was offensive and completely out of line. Why would Fox News even want her? People that watch the station are probably going to turn the channel. They're not going to want to watch someone who was clearly not using a sensive language when adressing her audience. She could apologize for her actions but she still ended up offending people. She does have the qualifications for the job, however. Could she sign the deal? Of course she would! Her show was cancelled and she needs something else to do. I don't see her getting any type of job that would give her a 'star' postion on Fox News.

I believe that Dr. Laura will not sign a contract with FOX News because, of her past. FOX News is known for how conservative its news channel is. Dr. Laura has been known for some racy comments and answers to questions brought to her.

Dr. Laura has said some scandalous things in the past but has continued in the media field anyway. I believe in a few months when her controversial comments are old news she could definitely receive an offer from FOX. I have never listened to Dr. Laura's talk show before but from what I've read online it seems her views would compliment FOX's well. I think if they did offer her a contract, it would be wise for them to give her something that isn't live.

I feel that there is a good possibility that Dr. Laura will be employed by Fox News in the future. It is hard to say if she will be offered a job any time soon due to her extremely controversial actions, however, I feel that she would definitely fit in with a lot of the anchors and reporters on Fox because of her political views and stance on certain issues.

I have personally never listen to one of Dr.Laura shows. But what from what I've read on her website , it sounds like she has some strong and right winged views , and definitely says and tells people what she believes. I'm not sure if fox will give her a offer or not just because they might not want to run the risk of having to clean up after her if she says something too strong , and i definitely do not think that they will or should give her a live show if anything. But it also wouldn't be surprising if they offered something to her because every channel needs their strongly opinionated hosts.

Dr.Laura certainly "fits the bill" for what FOX News is known for: forward remarks and in-your-face coverage. Due to that characteristic, I think FOX will welcome her with open arms. They have an image to uphold and while ratings are low, the newscast could use a fresh approach. Viewers like to see bizarre, conspicuous behavior and often find such conduct to be entertaining.

After looking at Dr.Laura's website I realize how she delivers to her audience. She stated "I’ll be ending my national radio show in December after 17 years." With that being the case, I would think yes she probably will sign a major deal with Fox News seeing as that is most likely going to be one of her best, if not her best, option.

I agree with you. Dr. Laura is a known right winged personality and that kind of person is what fox wants. She is being supported by other right winged personas like Sarah Palin. Although what she did was extremely offensive and uncalled for Fox will still sign some sort of a deal with her.

I'd say that your prediction is probably right. Fox News has always been about using shock value to continue to keep viewers, Fox in general really, and signing someone like Dr. Laura would be right up their ally. It would probably even be within their best interests to do so.

Dr. Laura has an edgy cultured attitude that sometimes flares like the sun. This woman is so catchy in delivery, but she crosses the line too often.

With an incident that would derail anyone's career, I wonder if she'll ever get a prime time slot. Kramer definitely learned it the hard way. You can't try to justify racist terms just to enforce a point. It's still racist, even when used in an example. I think that there surely could have been a more tolerant approach to apply to the situation.

I don't see Dr. Laura running to Fox News quite yet. She may take some time away from the business. Fox News probably won't offer her a job until things cool over but come the 2012 presidential election she could up there. Then again Fox did hire Sarah Palin as a talking head so who knows what the future holds for Dr. Laura.
